Home Improvments!

We decided to take a stab at our first real home improvement project. We’ve done small things around the house but nothing major. The one room that bothered me the most was the master bedroom. The color of it was pale yellow and I really didn’t like it. Here is a picture of the room before we started:
I originally was thinking of a pale blue but Aaron wanted to keep it neutral so we went with a color called dust bunny, which is a light brown. I used the roller and did the large surfaces while Aaron worked on the detail work. After the paint dried, we then hung new trim to replace the old trim where the ceiling and wall meets. I was exhausted by the end of this project and was only interested in ‘supervising.’ J But I stuck in there with Aaron and helped finish. The new paint compliments our furniture much better and I find it more relaxing. Check out of my steal of a deal, $5 curtains! Love them! Here is a picture of the finished product:

This same weekend I also wanted the closet that is across from the kitchen to have shelving for better use of the space. Here is a picture of how it turned out:

I put a fresh coat of paint in this closet and Aaron installed these wonderful adjustable shelves. We hung the shelves to the side of the closet so we can easily store our vacuum. Aaron also put hooks up so we can hang the mop, broom, swifter and step stool. This closet now makes more sense. Before it just had cleaning products sitting on the floor with a lot of empty wasted space, now we are using this closet to it’s fullest potential and now holds much more stuff in an organized fashion.

Overall it was a lot of work but the finished results are great and make us feel like we have made a purposeful change to our home.

Quote on Marriage

Read a quote today I liked....

"A good marriage is the union of two forgivers" -- Ruth Graham

Forgiveness truely is an expression of love. Can you imagine a marriage without forgiveness?

Our Wedding Day

We got married on November 7th, 2009. We had such an awesome day! Our family and friends were able to make it, no weather issues that inferred with any one's visit. In fact the weather felt like a nice summer day, mid 70s, beautiful! I wasn't sure if we would get any outdoor shoots but actually most of our pics were outdoors. Aaron and I choose November because we started dating then but I knew I was risking unpredictable weather choosing that month but it worked out in our favor.

Aaron was an amazing groom! So thoughtful and caring during the planning process and the day of he really made me feel special. He sent me roses in the morning along with some beautiful diamond earrings as a gift. He looked very handsome, kept his groomsmen under control, was timely, was a tolerable picture poser, and of course made me feel loved.

The ceremony went smoothly. It was a great feeling to finally exchange our vows and be officially married. I could feel God's presence with us during the ceremony, I felt very blessed to marrying Aaron and have our family and friends as witnesses. I was also filled with excitement, just ready to start our journey as a married couple.
The reception was just like I envisioned it for the most part. Dinner was excellent, decor was romantic, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We were too but by the end I was wiped out and ready for bed. I wanted to dance and enjoy the reception longer but I just couldn't bring myself to do anymore, my dress was rubbing my sides to the point of being intolerable and I was ready to call it a night.

Aaron and I went up to our hotel room and did what we do best... eating! We really dug into this complimentary plate of cheese, crackers, fruit, chocolates and they have brought up our cake too. I think we just sat and ate for a good half hour. I was actually a really good eater all day long!

The next morning we had some breakfast with our family and friends and opened gifts. Then we stopped by home to grab our bags and off to a lake house for the next few days. My aunt has a friend who has an amazing lake cabin and she kindly set us up with it for a few days. It was a few days of much needed relaxing.

I have our wedding pictures hung up in the living room, kind of cheesy because I have so many of them up but I love reliving our day thru conversation and all the good memories that came with it. It is a great reminder of that day and so far we are really enjoying married life.

A Letter to Mr. Blog

Dear Blog,

It has been almost a month now and I have yet to post like I said I would. Please forgive me Mr. Blog, I will try harder to make a posting at least once a month. I really do want to try to be friends with you Mr Blog. I started a blog draft about our wedding and realized it was really long. I'm working on paring that down. Thanks Mr. Blog for understanding.

Sincerely,

Aaron & Erin
