Hyde Happenings

This week's edition of the Hyde Happenings, just a random post of what's been going in our lives...

This week Annie had an extensive hearing exam and great news… she passed with flying colors!  What a relief, the audiologist is certain the tubes are what was interfering with computerized exam results.  She passed the non-computerized sound field test and heard every single octave and even at a very low volume.  So now we can move forward with speech therapy knowing that her hearing is not a factor.  Wheew!

Wow, was the World Series something this year?!  I’m not a baseball fan but I understand the rules of the game from playing softball for many years so I can follow along pretty easily.  But why do the games have to drag on so late?!  I couldn’t stay up to the end of any of them, anything pass 9:30 anymore is a challenge to stay awake.

Beggars night was last Sunday, this was the first year that Annie participated.  It took a little warming up and we ended up hooking up with some neighbors who have toddler little girls and she loved running alongside of them house to house.  Once she got the concept, we then had to keep saying, only take one Annie.  I could see her little paws grabbing multiple handfuls a few too many times.  I think that night ranked up with one of the most memorable this year, her excitement and enthusiasm just melted my heart for her.

Annie wore her Raggedy Ann costume from last year.  We moved on Halloween and it really didn’t fit her that great last year so it actually worked out really well to use it this year. Then a long time ago, like before Claire was ever born, I had seen an old lady Halloween baby on Pinterest and I thought if I have another girl I’m definitely making her an old lady wig and buying some glasses with a chain and sure enough, her 2016 costume was too perfect!

The girls have been giving us a beat down this week.  The middle of the night wakings are really wearing on us.  It’s usually one or the other but most of this week it’s been both of them.  It’s exhausting to be up multiple times in the night trying to get one of them to go back to sleep.  I’m guessing daylight savings time this weekend isn’t going to be doing us any favors in getting them back into their routines.

I had a tooth that had been bothering me for a while now.  On Sunday that tooth went from being annoying to serious pain.  I have never been so excited in my life to get a root canal midweek that wasn’t in the plans just days prior.

Annie has recently taken up interest in helping me in the kitchen, which is a lot of fun but it seriously slows me way down and we have to stick to simple recipes (like boxed pancake mix) or else it takes half a day to do anything and the clean-up is horrendous, I’m talking batter down the side of the cabinets, batter on the floors, dry mix in places I never knew you could flick dry mix into.  Sooo… I am in need of some tasty but easy, simple baking holiday ideas.  Sounds like a newly inspired Pinterest board in the making!

Aaron and my wedding anniversary is coming up, no 7-year itch here!  We are going to celebrate by going to a JohnnySwim concert.  Can't wait!

I attended our first neighborhood Bunco night with the the ladies who live in our neighborhood.  Had such a great time and I really am loving my neighbors, we have a lot of commonalities and everyone seems to get along really well.  Plus the biggest bonus is our neighborhood has lots of little girls!  2 other babies are Claire’s age, one of them happens to be in the same room at daycare together, how coincidental huh?! And five+ 2 year old girls for Annie, we really lucked out with having some pretty awesome neighbors who have kids the same age as ours.  So I actually didn’t really enjoy the Bunco game itself (found the game rather boring) but hey it’s a good excuse to get together with the other mom’s once a month, drink wine, socialize and conveniently be close to home.
